Despite Ken making a run for it - I successfully completed the first tentative hops with the RC jetpack - something a little more complex than your average RC plane..
Setting up the rates, mixes and gyro gains was the first task and to do this I've been skidding around on the concrete. Things are looking good with the RC jetpack but I have a little more work to do and I'm surprised at just how much torque those fans produce -- requiring large amounts of corrective input on the vanes.
I've now mixed throttle to the yaw so as to automatically compensate for the torque changes as the power level is increased and in the next round of testing I expect to pop up into a hover.
