After I posted video of the sign which appears to grant consent to the flying of RC models in one of the Tokoroa reserves, many people suggested that it was a trap and that the sign didn't grant any such permission. So today I went out and filmed some other signs which seem to clearly indicate that if something is forbidden, the South Waikato District Council makes it pretty clear that this is the case. And, to remove any last trace of doubt, I found another sign on the reserve which clearly does not forbid the flying of models -- simply advises that model flying is an activity that may be performed here.
So, should I try to create community interest and perhaps have a public open-day so that members of the public can come to this park and see what the hobby is all about? Surely the SWDC would not be so mean and vindictive as to change their minds or suggest that only *some* people in this town (those with enough money to join MFNZ) be allowed to fly in the parks that are paid for by *all* those who pay property taxes here.
