In this video I modify the function of my DIY Arduino Brain Interface controlling my 3D printed robot arm (open source InMoov design by Gael / ). I added functionality whereby the hand movement will be proportional to the brain activity recorded by the hacked MindFlex headset.
Due to the durability of the InMoov arm itself- I don't think this would be perfectly suited for a prosthetic but... I can't help but think this could be PERFECTLY suited for recovery in patients with little/no muscle control. They could see an actual reaction in the arm- regardless of whether or not their real arm was moving. For me- I could see this being a huge confidence booster. Perhaps expediting healing. If not that purpose, it can DEFINITELY be used as a basic output device allowing someone to simply hold another person's hand, perform a basic movement or other use. All at a price no commercial version will likely ever match. This can also be reproduced anywhere in the world with a minimum of materials and tools.
