FLIR Vue Unboxing, Configuration and Flight Testing
In this episode, the Roswell Flight Test Crew tries out the new FLIR Vue thermal imaging camera, developed specifically for use on Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (SUAS), popularly known as drones. The crew begins by unboxing the Vue and then connects it to a computer with the included “bench cable” to demonstrate the Graphical User Interface (GUI) software available as a free download from FLIR. Using the software, users are able to configure their cameras to use different color palettes, regions of interest, NTSC or PAL video encoding, as well as other settings. Next, the crew discusses options that are available with the camera, including: resolution, lens and frame rate. The episode concludes with a flight demonstration using a DJI Phantom.
