After one of the slowest starts to the North Pacific big wave season in recent memory, the charts finally lit up the first week of January. The three-day swell started at Maui's Jaws before barreling into California's Maverick's and finally hitting Todos Santos on Baja, Mexico. The global big wave community, including chargers like Greg Long, Shane Dorian, Derek Dunfee, Shawn Dollar, Dave Wassel, and more descending on all three spots to try and get waves worthy of the Billabong XXL Global Big Wave Awards.
