Even when he was a small child, The Bearded Man always picked out his mother’s records and organized them whenever they had company. He was quite the miniature DJ! A little while later, he wore a doctor’s mask to his first gig, invented the first mashup, and started charging neighborhood kids to come over and record their demos. You never saw him without a pair of headphones on. He wanted to capture the buzz and energy of Compton - a largely ignored city. He started to build up popularity, but then things got too dangerous for him. So he picked a random kid off the streets - a young lad named Andre Young, and said: “Cut me loose! It’s all up to you now.” That’s how Dr. Dre was born. Yep, it was the sloppy seconds of a career that The Bearded Man started.
