We tested around 6 different gear combinations until we had a reliable 50% increase over the stock cars 22 mph speed (See that in this video - ). Note the speed just quoted and shown in that video is with the supplied 7cell Nimh pack and the lower pinion it comes fitted with out of the box.
Our combination of a 23T pinion, a 76T Spur, and four pairs of bearings will give you a reliable 50%+ increase in speed for only $20 in parts. You could go faster but we feel this works well without getting things too hot and compromising reliability. We tested a lot so you don't have to!
