Runcam Split Mini - Jello Effect Control on Storm H2 with 2 inches propellers
HQ Prop 1.9 X 3 X 3 PC Light Blue Quad Propeller (2 X CCW + 2 X CW)
( Less Jello for hovering, less trust )
GemFan HULKIE 2040-3 PC Propeller (Blue / CCW + CW)
( Less Jello for fast moving )
Motors or propellers generate vibration. Some frequencies of vibration affect the camera with specified shutter speed to generate Jello Effect.
How to minimize jello effect?
1. Change frequency of vibration by using propellers with different specification. They have different RPM that generates different frequencies. Some frequencies generate less Jello Effect.
2. Minimize vibration by using different propellers produced by different factories. Some factories manufacture propellers with better balance.
3. Balance propellers one by one yourself with adhesive tape. To balance a propeller, install the propeller to a motor on your quadcopter and rotate the motor by using the betaflight interface. You can hold the airframe and feel the vibration. Then, stop the motor and stick a little piece of adhesive tape on a blade and rotate it again to feel the difference of the vibration. Keeps doing it until you feel less vibration. Do it very carefully. Don’t hurt your fingers.
4. To isolate the camera to minimize vibration by using thick 3M tape or 3D printed mount.
5. low light environment generates less jello effect because the shutter speed is slower. If you cannot control the environment light, give the camera a sun glasses (Filter) that change the shutter speed of the camera.
