I wanted to setup manual mode with my Naza since it defaults to attitude mode. I've been flying in attitude mode for a while with my Spektrum DX5e. Originally I had tried to configure control modes using channel 5 on my Spektrum receiver, but the problem was I couldn't set the endpoints for the aux switch.
That led me to order a Turnigy 9X from ebay. This video demonstrates using the Turnigy 9X transmitter to be able to toggle between the Naza's attitude and manual control modes. It took me quite a while to figure out how to configure the gear switch to do this. I hope this video saves you some time if you have a Naza/Turnigy setup.
