As a scratch builder, I've resented consumer drones in the past. But at this point they are so advanced that it would be nearly impossible to match the capabilities with a scratch built platform. So despite their negative connotation with the media and frequent misuse, it would be foolish to overlook the impressive technology seen here.
The P4 is a pretty big improvement over my first multirotor in 2010:
