/ Barcelona's Eixample, or Extension, district is a great example of fine urban planning, its broad boulevards lined with sidewalk cafes, stylish shops, beautiful landscaping, and thousands of excellent apartments. Just north of the well-known Gothic Quarter and Plaza Catalunya, many tourists might miss this Eixample neighborhood, but you will see it is worth visiting. Several landmark Modernist buildings are here including Casa Batllo and Casa Milà by the great man, Gaudí.
