The 2012 "Watts over Owatonna" event is history, but for people who attended, it was a weekend to remember. Open to electric pilots of all types, the event is held in Owatonna, Minnesota, located just 45 miles south of Minneapolis. The flying site is considered one of the best in the state, and while the event is only in its third year, it's already grown into the largest electric fly-in in the Midwest. This year, Karen and Tim Johnson played host to 150 enthusiastic pilots and hundreds of curious spectators over the course of the 3-day event. And as you can see on video, the event drew pilots and electric aircraft of all sorts: scale, sport, airplanes, helis, gliders, one-of-a-kind aircraft and more. Pilots had the opportunity to "fun" fly throughout the entire weekend, and participate in events that included a night fly, mass warbird launch, combat event and a steak dinner for over 200 guests. Plans are already underway for next year's event.
