My predictions for the FinWing Penguin FPV RC plane were largely correct and here's what I found:
Con's:
- the large canopy makes the model sideslip in turns unless rudder is also used.
- the canopy acts like a green-house, trapping heat inside on hot sunny days
- visually, the canopy adversely affects the performance of any camera placed inside
- the flexible 3-bladed prop limits the power of the motor
Pro's:
- a very stable and easy to fly model
- low wing-loading means very little power needed to sustain flight
- no bad habits at all, doesn't drop a wing in a stall
- has the potential for exceptional endurance
In part 3 of the review, I will load it up with plenty of FPV equipment and batteries then see how it performs.
