Lucerne, Switzerland is one of the world's most attractive towns, on a beautiful lake with tall mountains in the distance. We take you on a sunrise walk by the river watching swans glide by, then have a look at the farmers' produce market along the river, and antique sale.

Then we walk through the new side of town, with chocolate shops, busy urban neighborhoods, and popular restaurants. There are some good hotels in that section but later we take you to our favorite, the Hotel des Balances, right on the river. You've got to see the
Lion Monument and shop for souvenirs. Lucerne has the largest transportation museum in Switzerland, along the lake just 2 miles from town, with old trains, planes, cars and boats. Then we have a great meal at the Old Swiss House, and some traditional Swiss music and dance at the Stadtkeller, the best show in town.
