In this episode, the Roswell Flight Test Crew hears from Lawrence Dennis of Aerial Technology International about the company's AgBOT precision agriculture drone. Designed and built to handle the tough working conditions on a farm, the AgBOT carries a MicaSense RedEdge multispectral camera mounted on a two-axis gimbal in a nadir orientation. Data gathered from the drone is processed using MicaSense's Atlas software package, yielding Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) imagery to assist the farmer in measuring crop health. The AgBOT is intended to fly primarily under automated control: following a pre-planned flight path between user-defined waypoints, in order to capture the required data.
