Huge 50% EP Split-Fuse Clipped Wing Cub
I ran into my friend Geoff while at the Ivan Pettigrew Land and Float Fly. Geoff brought out his scratch built 50% J3 Cub that dwarfed most of the other models at the event. This is a video of one of Geoff’s flights.
The weather was perfect for flying and filming at the Chilliwack Electric Flyers Club (CEF). What a great location!
Here are a few of the build details (see the build thread for more info):
50% Clipped Wing J3 Cub
180" (15') wingspan
144" (12') fuselage (split fuselage)
Hacker A100-10 motor
Hacker 170 ESC
12S-2P 6S 6000 mAh batteries (7500 watts)
Approx. 65 lbs.
Use the following link to view Geoff's Build Thread on RC Groups. It will answer any questions you might have about this gorgeous scratch built, split fuse, electric powered J3 that has a 15' wingspan and was a few years in the making.
I apologize for the jumpy footage but I was trying to film this while standing on one foot. It wasn’t too bad until Geoff went high lol. My bad foot looked like a football with a bunch of fat sausage rolls sticking out front and it protested when touching the ground. It’s so easy to take your good health for granted, enjoy every moment!
To make it easier to transport the plane, Geoff designed it with a split fuse so the fuselage can be taken apart into two sections. For those that may be interested. I have added a link to an old video I did that illustrates the field assembly process. You can find the link here:
Thanks for watching! Please give the video a like/thumbs up and if you’re not a subscriber, what are you waiting for lol.
Cheers,
Bob
