When skateboarding legend John Cardiel suffered a gnarly spinal cord injury in 2003, he was given little chance of walking again. But his recovery led him to fixed gear cycling, an obsession that he credits with getting back on his feet and, eventually, on a board. Now, in collaboration with the urban cycling manufacturer Chrome, Cardiel has released a line of bags suited to his style of riding. Tim Brodhagen caught up with Cardiel at Chrome's New York City store in Soho to get a look at the gear.
