It's been a minute since we heard from Swedish techno experimentalists SHXCXCHCXSH. With their last long player Linear S Decoded going down a storm in 2014, the duo return to Shifted's Avian imprint with a work to confuse and excite: SsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSs (this is not a joke). Each track features trademark SHXCXCHCXSH elements which are all wedded to Avian's monochromatic aesthetic 'wrought with tension'.
Here, we present the ninth track “SsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSs” – or nine "Ss"s if you like – which encapsulates this hyper tensile synthesis most impressively. What is coined most accurately as 'corrosive sound design', the track revolves around warped melodies, wrought iron percussion, white noise and buzzing static. There is what can only be described as an almost redemptive energy contained in “SsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSs”, as well as SsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSs' 14 other tracks. This opus sees SHXCXCHCXSH offering some of their most powerful and emotive work yet. The wait was worth it.
