If there’s one thing you can guarantee about the tunes of Bristol’s Guy Middleton aka Guido, it’s that they’ll be hard to pin down.
Ever since he dropped “Beautiful Complication” on Punch Drunk in 2009, he’s ducked and dived between the pillars of musical genre, never settling into any of the bass music or techno grooves of his Bristolian contemporaries, nor quite – as he frequently threatens to do – going fully pop. Instead he just explores areas of peculiarly structured mutant R&B like the original version of ‘Moments’ (out on the 23rd on his own State Of Joy label) and deeply warped electronics like this absolutely sterling remix, that belong to nobody but himself.
