On February 20, 1962, John Glenn became the first American to orbit the planet Earth. He went on to become a United States senator and flew to space again on the Space Shuttle STS-95 mission. John Glenn passed away at the age of 95 on Dec. 8, 2016 , a true American hero. -- Full Story:
