Airspace Systems is leveraging computer vision to identify, intervene, and remove threatening drones from the sky safely, without sacrificing speed. While many companies in the space are focused on simply identifying or shooting down rogue drones, Airspace uses machine learning to autonomously intercept drones and immobilize them with kevlar netting. The netting physically attaches to the opposing drone, allowing Airspace to remove the threat from a populated area without fatally damaging the craft. With $5 million in seed funding, the San Leandro based startup has been able to deploy its autonomous interceptor across a number of pilots, including one with the New York Mets.
