FXT Viper V2: Jack-of-all-trades diversity headbox FPV goggles - BEST FOR LESS
I had not used headbox goggles for a long while. I always felt that fatshark-style goggles suit me much better - and I still do.
Nevertheless, the FXT Viper managed to find a way into my gear, multiple ways in fact:
It is a very comfortable and well balanced headset, enjoyable to wear and easy to pass around for ride-alongs.
The diversity receiver performs well enough, if you spend a bit more on better antennas.
With its HDMI-input capability and the face guard removed, it is perfect for long simulator sessions.
With the optional sunshade accessory, it is a very nice standalone FPV monitor.
If you are a headbox user (and especially if you wear prescription glasses) I am confident to say that you will be more than satisfied. Unless you rely heavily on the DVR playback function…
The DVR UI is where the FXT Viper annoyed me the most. The controls become non-intuitive (for example when formatting / deleting files) and there is no way I could find to rewind or fast-forward the DVR footage during playback. This means that you will have to watch the whole video until you can see where you crashed... ONCE... and then watch it all over again to watch again the crash portion.
If you can live with this dysfunctionality, the FXT Viper is a very capable jack-of-all-trades set of FPV goggles.
This is FXT Viper V2: Jack-of-all-trades diversity headbox FPV goggles - Let's go!
