I was looking for a solution to extend HDMI with a Cat 5 or Cat 6 cable. I decided to give this kit from Monoprice a try to see how effectively it could do that for me.
The Monoprice device utilizes the HDBaseT format, which they claim can support 4k content. Anything less should work just fine, and I was able to successfully transmit video footage from a video camera through a 75 foot cat 6 cable. The kit also includes an IR blaster and receiver so I was able to use the camera's remote control without having to do any programming.
This was a very simple kit to set up - no programming or dip switches. Just plug and play and it should work without issue. It can support cable lengths of up to 328 feet, but the devices can also be daisy chained together for additional range.
