This video shows some of the "old-school" tools used to de-solder or un-solder components from circuit boards. It discusses and demonstrates solder wick, manual vacuum desoldering tools, as well as a nice Hakko 808 powered vacuum desoldering tool. For surface mount components, hot-air techniques are often used, but I don't have any of these tools at this time to show you.
