There’s an old country song that has the lyric “Sometimes falling feels like flying… for a little while.” Or wait… Maybe that wasn’t an old song but rather one from the movie “Crazy Heart” starring Jeff Bridges. In any case, from one bearded man to another, this concept has been proven true on a handful of occasions by our hero. Sometimes - although not often - we as humans seem to need to stare into the abyss and leap, even against our better judgment. Maybe it’s a sudden move, maybe it’s quitting that dead-end job even when all the signs say it might be a bad idea. In one instance, it was The Bearded Man staring up at a rickety, rusted-through tower overlooking a river in rural mainland China. Evidently you could bungee jump from the tower, which had quite an impressive drop. Still, it appeared that no one had done it in months, or maybe even years? If you looked at this thing, you probably would not have said that it was a smart idea. Still, heartbreak is a powerful motivator, and The Bearded Man had a tiny voice inside his head that told him it was probably inevitable that he bungee jump off it. It stared at him and mocked him all day… When he finally climbed up that tower the next morning, he could see people looking up at him in disbelief from all around the tower. They were shocked. He was too scared to jump, so the guys running the thing pushed him off. "Sh***********************************************!" In a word, terrifying! In three words: but worth it!
