The range of this 5.8Ghz FPV quadcopter is very good at about 150m (still haven't flown it far enough to lose connection :) You can get it here
A simple/improved sun shade may be quickly made from cardboard. It greatly improves visibility in direct sunlight as compared to the stock sunshade.
