Take away notes: Motorcycles are extremely dangerous. in fact, we had more near death experiences in our motorcycle trip than in our entire 7 month trip combined. That being said, they're cheap, fun, and a great way to explore new territories. Firstly, know how to ride a bike! Don't be a novice, or alone, and not fully confident on city streets. Secondly, learn the driving culture in the place you're visiting. Some places favour cars, others favour scooters, motorcycles, and tuk tuks. Sometimes driving into oncoming traffic is totally normal, and sometimes driving with no lights on at night is ok too - these are good things to know. Thirdly, wear a helmet and proper clothes. We crashed a few times wearing swim shorts and flip flops, and now live with the scars... not fun to deal with those kinds of injuries in a 3rd world country.
