Panasonic Viera main board repair part 3/3 - chip replacement
This is part 3 of the repair of a main board for a Panasonic Viera plasma TV.
In part 1, I was troubleshooting the main board and found that there was something wrong with a certain chip on the board. I ordered a new chip which has now arrived, and as requested I will here show you when I replace the old chip with the new one.

I have received a lot of positive comments about my soldering of the ADV-chip to the board.
So for those who are interested, I decided to upload a zoomed in version of this drag soldering as a separate video. This video is uploaded as unlisted and can therefore only be accessed from within this video.

I have also received questions from several viewers regarding the flux paste being used in this video.
I only used one type of flux for this particular repair, and that is Kingbo flux, manufactured in Tokyo, Japan. It's an RMA based flux which is quite popular among BGA reballers, but I have found that it works really well for hand soldering too. It can easily be found on eBay.

Also, just a word of caution regarding the use of kapton tape. It might be a good thing to keep in mind that kapton tape is not static free, meaning that it can actually hold a static charge on the surface. It's very common that kapton tape is being used on PC boards even among professionals, and I have never heard about anyone managing to actually kill a PCB with kapton tape. Besides, there aren't that many alternatives when it comes to heat resistant tape, but the static properties of the kapton tape might still be worth keeping in mind when using it on a PCB like I did in this video.
